"Achard ratchets up the tension with chilling control" - Variety
Based on the 1967 novel by Canadian author Timothy Findley, THE LAST OF THE CRAZY PEOPLE is a French naturalist drama from director Laurent Achard. Martin is a young boy growing up in a family on the brink of collapse, the story is presented from his perspective as he passively watches it slowly crumble around him.
Thought-provoking, poetic, heart-wrenching, gothic and utterly unique, 26 Mar 2009

Finally! I've been waiting for this DVD to come out in the UK for about a year now, trust me it is like nothing you have ever seen before. The young boy who plays the lead, Martin, is a wonder, where on earth did the director find him? I honestly don't know what other film I can compare this to: it is dark yet warm, cold yet heart-wrenching, bizarre yet crystal clear. Oh and it must be said that Pascal Cervo, who plays the gay brother of Martin, Didier, is a fantastic actor who sways from compassion to rage to quiet introspection and back again with such fluidity it beggars belief, and he is also very easy on the eye! More from this director please!
