"a masterpiece celebrating how the power of love and life can endure anything" - Attitude
Antonia's perfect fifteen-year marriage comes to an abrupt end when her husband is killed in an accident. Stricken with grief, she secludes herself from the world outside, until she unearths the remnants of a seven-year affair: a love poem inscribed on the back of a painting. Armed wtih a name and address, she sets out to find her husband's lover - only to Discover the former mistress is a man, Michele.
Antonia's disbelief is slowly overcome with fascination; she unlocks an entire world inhabited by a side of her husband she never knew. Though this new world has its perils, it also offers Antonia a new kind of family - one bound not by blood but by the strength of love, friendship and unbreakable human spirit.
"a convincing and level-headed tenderness" - Evening Standard
"The acting is first-rate... a film more about love, loss and deception than sexuality,,, [Ozpetek's] first film in Italy since Hamam is undoubtedly his best" - Derek Malcolm, The Observer
